Trainee Solicitor

Liam is a trainee solicitor who assists Eddie Preston. He is a fully accredited police station representative.

Liam joined Edward Fail, Bradshaw & Waterson in August 2019 as a paralegal before becoming a trainee solicitor in September 2020. He was initially the paralegal and then trainee to Paul Harris before moving to assist Eddie Preston in August 2021. He is due to qualify as a solicitor in September 2022.

During his time at Edward Fail, Bradshaw & Waterson, Liam has assisted on cases throughout the entirety of the criminal justice process and has worked on a diverse caseload including; protest cases, homicide, firearms offences, serious violent offences, drugs-related offences, serious sexual allegations and regulatory offences. Liam was heavily involved with the successful defence of a retired police officer in the recent Hillsborough trial (2021) before Mr Justice Davis (as he then was).

Liam has represented a number of clients at police stations for a vast array of offences from shoplifting through to rape and murder. He has secured a number of out of court disposals and concluded several cases with no further action (NFA) being taken. Alongside his work representing clients in interview, Liam also undertakes pre-charge engagement and has a strong track record in concluding allegations without need for interview, particularly for young people.

Liam has experience in Fraud and White Collar Crime, working on an array of cases including VAT fraud, breaches of the Companies Act 2006 and numerous types of money laundering allegations. He has also been able to assist on matters involving pre-charge restraint & forfeiture of assets, cash detention and account freezing orders.

Liam also has also gained experience of Inquests and Public Hearings, including assisting in the representation of a core participant in the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA).

Liam graduated with a 2:1 (Hons) in Law from the University of Sussex in 2018. Since September 2020, Liam has been undertaking the Legal Practice Course (LPC/MSc in Law, Business and Management) part-time with the University of Law, London. Liam has previously volunteered in a free legal advice clinic specialising in criminal law, interviewing clients & drafting letters of advice. Liam also holds a Diana Award for his work as a youth advisor to the Mayor of London for knife crime and cyber bulling.
