James is an experienced Crown Court advocate having defended allegations of serious crime at all levels of the court system. He was called to the Bar in 2005 after a short career as an academic lawyer when he taught a variety of legal subjects to post-graduate level. He is a regular commentator in the legal and popular press including The Times, the New Law Journal and the Solicitor’s Journal and continues to provide lectures to a number of organisations.
