Why do you need representation at the Police Station?

Being arrested is a traumatic experience and often decisions made at the Police Station (for example whether or not to answer questions in interview) have a considerable bearing on the ultimate outcome of the case. A Solicitor will be able to explain the allegation and evidence that the Police will raise in interview before the questioning takes place. This will ensure that you, or the person you know in custody, have the time to consider their position fully rather than being unprepared in the interview. The Police may try to dissuade you from having a Solicitor, but remember it is your right to be represented.

I have been charged with an offence

Call our switchboard on 0207 790 4032 between 9 a.m and 6 p.m. to speak to a Solicitor about your forthcoming Court appearance. We will advise you on the methods of funding your case and will arrange for Court representation.

Legal representation is now means tested in the Magistrates’ Court. If your case is serious enough to require a solicitor, subject to your means, you will receive free defence representation. If your case proceeds to a higher Court then your funding will continue and will be extended to include a barrister. At the end of the case in the Crown Court a Judge could make a defence costs order at which point your means will be considered.

If you wish to pay privately, you will be quoted an hourly rate and asked for a certain amount on account at the start of your case. You will then be provided with interim bills and confirmation of work completed during your case.
